An interesting study was recently done by Chitika which indicates that 3 word keywords are the most popular to drive SEO search traffic.
Here’s a full breakdown of organic search volume by query length:

3 Words — 26%
2 Words — 19%
4 Words — 17%
1 Word — 14%
