Caffeine Gives Google a Jolt
Not as if it needed it, but Google is continuing to enhance its product with the official release of Google Caffeine.

Google’s new web indexing systems is faster and more comprehensive, according to Carrie Grimes, a Google software engineer.
Our old index had several layers, some of which were refreshed at a faster rate than others; the main layer would update every couple of weeks. To refresh a layer of the old index, we would analyze the entire web, which meant there was a significant delay between when we found a page and made it available to you.
With Caffeine, we analyze the web in small portions and update our search index on a continuous basis, globally. As we find new pages, or new information on existing pages, we can add these straight to the index. That means you can find fresher information than ever before—no matter when or where it was published.
In the past, when a new post or new web site was published, it took Google a while to find it. Our SEO strategy for our online dating sites, for example, was always to give the new site a link from a prominent site so that the new site would get indexed quickly. This should no longer be as important with Caffeine swirling its way around the web.
Another change that we have noted on Google is that the more recent the post, the more likely it is that it will rank higher since the “news” events seem to appear atop the organic listings. This increases the need to continue to build content and links to maintain top positions.
