First Television Advertisement
It wasn’t the Super Bowl of advertisements, but the very first time that an advertisement appeared on television was on July 1, 1941. Prior to a game between the Brooklyn Dodgers and the Philadelphia Phillies, Bulova paid a whopping $4 for an ad placement on New York City station WNBT.
The 10 second advertisement showed a Bulova watch superimposed on a map of the United States. The announcer was short and sweet with his plug: “America runs on Bulova time.”
