Social Networking Growing
Rapid growth continues to occur in the social networking marketplace. The amount of time that Americans spent on social network sites increased again in August, 2009. In fact, 17% of all time spent on the internet was spent on social network sites, according to a study from The Nielsen Company.
Online advertising on social networking sites is also growing. Nielsen reported a 119% growth year over year from top blog and social network sites including Facebook and My Space. In total, $108 million was spent on these sites in August, 2009 up from $49 million in August, 2008.
