Cell Phone Only Households by State
The number of households cutting the cord on their landline phone continues to increase. A recent study by
the National Center for Health Statistics shows that 20.2% of American households are now cell phone only and do not have a landline phone.
The amount of households dropping their landline phones appears to be increasing by 3% every year for the last few years. The 2008 figure was 17.5% and the 2007 figure was 14.7%.
The state with the greatest amount of households that are cell phone only is Oklahoma with 26.2% of its households having no landline phone. Vermont has the lowest amount of cell phone only households at 5.1%.
