Interactive Marketing: $55 Billion by 2014

Throw out the print. Mobile classifieds are the future of the newspaper industry.

Interactive marketing in the United States will reach $55 billion by 2014, according to a study by Forrester Research.

Search marketing will lead the growth, totaling $31.5 billion by 2014, followed by display advertising at $16.9 billion.  Social media projects to $3.1 billion and email marketing to $2.1 billion.

The news is not good news for traditional advertising media like newspaper, radio, and television.  Forrester found that 60% of those surveyed plan to fund interactive marketing to industries like mobile marketing by shifting dollars away from traditional media.

The answer for traditional media, therefore, is to embrace interactive media through programs like mobile classifieds.
